I received my PhD from the University of Hull in 2015. My PhD explored placebo effects in the rubber hand illusion. My current research as a postdoctoral research fellow focuses on the role of the placebo effect in randomised controlled trials, specifically whether placebo effects influence the validity or interpretation of results. In the wider context of placebo research, I have an interest in how the psychosocial context surrounding the treatment can modulate the degree of placebo effect, as well as whether these factors also influence non-specific side effects.
